The first team to qualify for the 2014 FIFA World Cup in Brazil from the South American qualifying zone has been revealed. It is Argentina.
On Tuesday, the Argentine team defeated Paraguay 5-2 (2-1). A draw would have also satisfied the Argentine team.
Lionel Messi scored two goals for the winners (12 and 52 min.). Both times he scored by converting penalties from 11 meters.
Other goals were scored by Sergio Aguero (32 min.), Angel Di Maria (50 min.), and Maxi Rodriguez (90 min.).
Scoring for the losing team were Jose Nunez (18 min.) and Roque Santa Cruz (86 min.)
