The title-holding German club Bayern Munich "relocated" to the new "Allianz Arena" stadium triumphantly. The winners of this season's German championship and national cup defeated the German national football team 4-2.

Although the stadium, which cost 280 million euros, had already been "consecrated" with veteran matches and several other events before, the Wednesday match between Bayern and the national team was the first one that was watched by 66 thousand spectators in the packed stadium.

Although his team lost, national team coach Juergen Klinsmann said that these matches were a beautiful gift to Bayern fans.

In Wednesday's match, Bayern players took the lead first, with five national team members among them, when Sebastien Deisler scored a goal. Shortly before the end of the half, London's Chelsea defender Robert Huth scored an own goal.

Although Timo Borowski's penalty kick revived the national team's hopes, Willy Sagnol made it 3-1. Later, Miroslav Klose (who, by the way, was injured and will not play in the Confederations Cup) narrowed the score, but Hasan Salihamidzic sealed the deal.

The modern 66,000-seat stadium designed by Swiss architects and built in 2.5 years, the "Allianz Arena" has one interesting feature: it lights up red at night if Bayern is playing, and blue if the city's other team TSV 1860 is playing.
