Former "Barcelona", now "Monaco" team defender Eric Abidal revealed that his former teammate Dani Alves offered to help him during the toughest times.
It is worth mentioning that E. Abidal had a liver transplant due to a tumor, with his half-brother Gerard being the donor.
However, the Frenchman also revealed that his former teammate at Barcelona himself offered to help and wanted to become Eric's liver donor.
This season, D. Alves decided to change his jersey number to honor E. Abidal - now he proudly wears the number 22 on his jersey, which the Frenchman used to have.
"My relationship with Dani is much closer than just changing jersey numbers. When I was scheduled for surgery, Alves offered to donate his liver," admitted E. Abidal.
The defender also revealed that he was wanted at "Bayern" by coach Pep Guardiola, with whom, as we know, E. Abidal also worked at Barcelona.
"Guardiola wanted me in the ranks of "Bayern", I won't deny it. But not everything depended on him. The Bayern doctors didn't want to risk my health and that is completely understandable. Still, it was a beautiful gesture," said the Frenchman.
In total, E. Abidal played almost 200 matches in Barcelona colors and wore the French national team jersey over fifty times.
