The Saturday match between Manchester United and Crystal Palace sparked discussions about the fact that football players who simulate fouls should receive red cards. Ashley Young simulated a foul in that match and received a yellow card, but Crystal Palace manager Steve Parish believes that the punishment was too lenient.

Ashley Young simulated a foul when he was next to Crystal Palace player Kagisho Dikgacoi. The Englishman received a yellow card. In a later incident, Kagisho Dikgacoi committed a rough foul against Ashley Young and received a red card, having to leave the field. Manchester United was awarded a penalty kick, which was successfully converted, leading to a 2-0 win for the team.

The Crystal Palace manager believes that if a player receives a red card for impeding a goal-scoring opportunity, the player who dishonestly tried to create such a situation should also be penalized. "Now Ashley Young has a yellow card and three points, while we have 0 points and one player less in the next match. It's unfair," said Steve Parish.

Manchester United manager David Moyes emphasized after the match that he does not like unsporting behavior: "I don't want my players to dive. Ashley definitely stuck his leg out and simulated a foul. I think the red card shown to the opponent later was too severe a punishment."

Last season in the Premier League, 34 yellow cards were shown for simulation. Gareth Bale, representing the Tottenham team, received the most yellow cards for simulated incidents – six. Second was Fernando Torres with 3 yellow cards, and six players received two yellow cards each – Ashley Young, Emmanuel Eboue, Luis Suarez, Daniel Sturridge, Mario Balotelli, and Javier Hernandez.
