Possibility that the FIFA World Cup scheduled to take place in Qatar in 2022 will be moved to winter has become very real.

The proposal to hold the 2022 championship in winter was made due to extreme weather conditions: in the summer, temperatures in Qatar can rise to 50 degrees Celsius.

The European football governing body UEFA unanimously supports this decision - 54 members of this organization voted for this proposal.

"At this meeting, it was decided without discussion that the 2022 World Cup in Qatar cannot take place in the summer. No one argues too much about it," - Jim Boyce, the representative of the UK in UEFA, told the BBC.

However, there is still discussion about which month the tournament should take place - the British would like the championship to be held in November, while UEFA prefers January, as the Champions League tournament takes a break at that time.

Nevertheless, J. Boyce says that there is still enough time until the championship and a compromise will be found regarding this decision."
