The Second Day of the Lithuanian National Team in Valencia © EuroFootball.com

The second day in the third largest city in Spain started quite calmly for the Lithuanian delegation. The Lithuanian national team had an easy training session in the morning, while the youth team calmly awaited the evening match against the Spanish youth team.

It would seem that the Spaniards should feel a bit embarrassed towards the Lithuanians for the poor reception in Lithuania last autumn, but according to A. Liubinskas, the pitch where the Lithuanian national team trains is perfect. Many found this quite peculiar, but it would be difficult for the Spaniards to replicate a similar reception, as they simply do not have bad stadiums. Just flying over Valencia, I counted 19 football fields, and upon exploring the city, at least eight. All of them are meant for kids from neighborhoods and all of them are comparable to the "Vėtra" stadium in Vilnius.

From what I have seen of the Spaniards, the entire team is expecting a very easy victory and hopes to prove to their fans that the draw in Lithuania was just a fluke. The local Valencia press also refers to Spain as a team that should crush the Lithuanians.

Seeing the "Mestalla" stadium for the first time, it's hard to accept that football is not the most popular sport in Lithuania. Walking towards the stadium, which can accommodate almost sixty thousand spectators, you feel the true spirit of football.

Working in Valencia, one of the first to find out the preliminary composition of the Lithuanian national football team, it will most likely be played in the standard 4-4-2 system. So the preliminary composition is as follows: Žydrūnas Karčemarskas; Rolandas Džiaukštas, Andrius Skerla, Tomas Žvirgždauskas, Gediminas Paulauskas; Orestas Buitkus, Aurimas Kučys, Nerijus Barasa, Igoris Morinas; Tomas Danilevičius, Robertas Poškus.

As EuroFootball.com has already announced, TV3 will indeed broadcast the match against Spain. This issue was resolved only today, when the Spanish television reduced the broadcasting cost from two hundred to ten thousand euros.

More information about the youth match will be provided tomorrow morning - the match is played almost a hundred kilometers from Valencia in a small town, and the kick-off is at 23:00 Lithuanian time. I can only say that tickets for this match were sold out four days ago, and the stadium can accommodate almost eight thousand spectators.
