On Friday evening, team coach Matthias Sammer left the team, having been with the team for just one season.
Club president Erwin Staudtas said that the decision to part ways with the former best European footballer was not easy: "It was a tough decision. However, Mathias Sammer and I understood that this step was the right one."
Although the club's statement claims that the decision was mutual, it is clear that the former Dortmund coach signed his own verdict for the club on the last day of the Bundesliga championship by withdrawing from the race to the Champions League.
Staudtas says that a new coach for the team will be introduced by June 27, when the players will start preparing for the new season.
