Marius Žaliūkas will not wear the legendary Glasgow "Rangers" club jersey - the defender of the Lithuanian national team rejected the offer from the Scottish team.
The 29-year-old footballer left Edinburgh "Hearts" after his contract expired, but has not found a new team yet. He trained with "Rangers" for some time and left a good impression on the coaches, but did not want to play in the third Scottish league, to which the financially troubled club was relegated.
"It's a shame, but we couldn't reach an agreement. Marius has one or two other offers," said "Rangers" manager Ally McCoist. "It looks like we'll have to deal with the squad we have now."
It is rumored that Žaliūkas may stay in Great Britain but move to England, where the second league club "Middlesbrough" is interested in him. Allegedly, they are offering him an almost double the Glasgow salary of 6,000 euros per week.
