QPR coach Redknapp: Žaliūkas looks really good in training © EuroFootball.com

London's Queens Park Rangers coach Harry Redknapp is considering offering a contract to Lithuanian Marius Žaliūkas.

The 29-year-old defender is currently a free agent and has been training with a team playing in the second division of England for several days.

"Marius is training with us and looks really good," said Redknapp. "He has been successfully playing in Scotland for several years - the feedback we received is excellent. And we need to strengthen our defensive and midfield positions."

However, whether Žaliūkas would establish himself in the team even after signing a contract is unclear for now.

"We have two experienced central defenders ready to step onto the field - Richard Dunne and Clint Hill, but both are now in their fourth decade. Playing both on weekends and in the middle of the week from now until Christmas will not be easy, so we need reinforcements and Žaliūkas might be suitable for that," added Redknapp.

QPR have collected 23 points in nine games in the English Championship and currently sit in first place.
