During the qualification match for the 2006 World Cup in Germany against Lithuania on Saturday, the hero of Spain, Alberto Luque, says that after the victory against Lithuania, everything is in their own hands.

"Winning today (Saturday - ed.) was very important," said the scorer of the only goal right after the match. "We did it and now everything is in our hands. If we win the next two matches - we will play in Germany."

The victory with a result of 1-0 against Lithuania means that the Spanish team now shares the first place in Group 7 of the qualification with the national teams of Serbia and Montenegro, who unexpectedly played a draw with Belgium at home on Saturday. Meanwhile, Lithuania is in third place, trailing the leading teams by three points.

"The match was tougher than we expected, but after many failures, we managed to move forward," continued A. Luque. "We are tired after a tough season, and it was difficult to get into the game. But we won, and that is the most important thing."

The coach of the Spanish national team, Luis Aragones, said that defeating the Lithuanians was difficult, but he expected that the next match against Bosnia would be of a different style.

"Matches like these, when chances just can't be converted and the tension is huge, are very tough," said the national team strategist. "If we had scored an early goal, it would have been much easier."

"Lithuania played defensively, tried to counter-attack, so it was difficult to attack," commented L. Aragones on the Lithuanian game. "I think the Bosnians will not defend like that, as they will desperately need points, so they should try to attack."
