Today, strategist Guy Roux officially announced his resignation from the position of head coach.

Roux joined "Auxerre" back in 1961 and over 19 seasons managed to lead the team from the regional championship to the heights of "Ligue 1". Under his guidance, "Auxerre" won all of its titles - 4 French Cups and the 1996 "Ligue 1" champions title.

However, the 66-year-old Frenchman is leaving the team with his head held high, as on Saturday his team once again won the French Cup, beating "Sedan" 2-1 in the final.

"I have firmly decided to leave 'Auxerre'," Roux told TF1. "I am not saying I am retiring from football, I just want to change my environment."
