Madrid's "Atletico" forward Diego Costa officially announced that he will forego the opportunity to play for Brazil and will start his career with the Spanish national team.
Rumors about this decision have been circulating for some time. Today, the 24-year-old footballer was granted Spanish citizenship.
"La Roja" head coach Vicente Del Bosque also hinted that he would like D.Costa to wear the Spanish national team jersey.
The footballer, who has been playing in Spain since 2007, has been in impressive form this season in the "La Liga" championships, scoring 8 goals in seven matches.
D.Costa will not represent the national team in the upcoming 2014 World Cup qualifying matches, but next summer he will travel to his homeland with other Spaniards to compete in the tournament.
