The head coach of Barcelona is surprised that Chilean Alexis Sanchez is still being criticized for his inconsistent play. The forward has received unfavorable feedback even for his performances last season, despite now playing effectively.
During a press conference on Friday, Gerardo Martino defended his player and urged critics to stop attacking him.
"It surprises me not only that Alexis is criticized for his previous performances. He is also criticized now. I think he doesn't deserve that. Alexis is criticized even when he plays well. In the match against Celtic, he made a productive pass, but for some reason no one notices that," claimed the Argentine.
According to the coach, he is pleased with A. Sanchez's performance.
"Alexis is a very important member of our team. On the field, he gives his all and plays effectively. I am delighted with his contribution," Martino concluded.
