Former Real Madrid defender Roberto Carlos is convinced that Gareth Bale is worth the sum for which he moved to the royal club.
The Brazilian, known for his powerful shots, cannot understand the controversial opinions about Bale's price, which was around 100 million euros.
"It was paid so much because Bale is worth it. They also paid a lot for Zidane, Figo, Ronaldo, and Cristiano Ronaldo. Barcelona did not spare money to acquire Neymar, so these players are worth it," Carlos told the newspaper AS.
"So I do not understand why Tata Martino criticizes Bale's acquisition and connects it with the economic situation. If you want a player of this type, you have to pay," added the defender.
Bale's arrival in Madrid sparked a lot of talk about the star-studded Real team, which triumphed in the Champions League in 2002.
However, the legendary full-back insists that the current team cannot be compared to the one he represented.
"These teams cannot be compared. The current Real team is great, but to match or surpass the Galacticos, they must achieve as much as we did," said the Brazilian.
Carlos played for Real Madrid from 1996 when he moved from Inter, until 2007 when he decided to switch to Fenerbahce.
