London's "Arsenal" club has started negotiations with defender Per Mertesacker regarding the conditions of extending his contract.
The current German's contract expires in 2015, and Arsene Wenger's coached team would like the footballer to stay in the team at least until 2017.
The 29-year-old footballer joined the London club on the last day of summer in 2011. Back then, the "gunners" paid 8 million pounds sterling for the "Werder" defender.
Since then, P. Mertesacker has become one of the team's defensive pillars and is one of the few indispensable starting line-up players.
