Long-time Lithuanian national team player Deividas Šemberas is ending his career in the national team, writes "Lietuvos žinios".
The 17-year veteran defender suddenly became unnecessary. His name is not in the lineup of the team playing the World Cup qualifying match against Latvia on Friday.
"That's my decision and I don't intend to change my mind. My goal is to go to the national team and help them. Of course, if I were invited, I would definitely help. Since I am no longer invited, I decided to withdraw. I realized that I am not needed," Šemberas told "Lietuvos žinios".
"There's no point in being offended. We have young footballers. I wish them to improve rapidly and achieve victories," said Šemberas.
