London's "Chelsea" club striker Fernando Torres admits that he should demonstrate a higher level of football.
The Spaniard agrees that he needs to push himself and score more goals to prove that he is worth the £50 million fee paid for him.
The 29-year-old footballer has only scored once in the Premier League this calendar year, but believes that his critics are somewhat demanding.
"People watch my game and think that I should perform better, and they are absolutely right," said F.Torres.
"People paid that money because I proved my worth in the past. Now I have to show that I am worth that amount or even more.
"I know I have to regain the owner's trust. The number of goals I scored last season (22 goals) should be the minimum limit," the Spaniard insisted.
"I demand the same from myself, but I still have enough time. I signed a five-year contract, so I believe that I will perform better in the future," concluded the striker.
F.Torres moved to "Chelsea" on January 31, 2011, and cost the team owner £50 million.
