The coach of the Latvian national team: Lithuanians were stronger and wanted to win more © EuroFootball.com

Latvian national team coach Marian Pahars admitted that the Lithuanian national team was stronger this evening.

"These were the worst games under my leadership of the national team. We decided to take risks and attack from the beginning, but it did not pay off. It seemed that the Lithuanians not only won the individual duels but also wanted to win more, so they were stronger tonight. The first half was not bad, but after the break we ran out of breath, lacking game practice, as many players do not play regularly in matches for their clubs," - former famous Latvian football player pondered.

"We lacked emotion - the kind we saw in the first games in Riga," added the specialist. "In addition, we lacked a player like Mindaugas Kalonas, who could successfully hold the ball in key moments and make a pass. We had half chances to score, but lacked real opportunities."

Pahars added that the artificial turf was not usual for the Latvians, but admitted that it would not be talked about in case of victory.

And he added: "The composition of the Lithuanian national team has changed, young and interesting guys appeared."
