London's "Arsenal" club strategist Arsene Wenger is ready to once again surprise the team's fans with new purchases.
Nevertheless, the Frenchman also emphasizes that the core of the team should be made up of players grown in the academy, not bought.
"My approach remains the same - I always aim to attract the best players to the club at the best possible price.
Additionally, I want 60-80% of the team to consist of players grown in the academy," mentioned A. Wenger officially on the club's website.
"From this arises our club's culture, football style. Players like Wilshere, Ramsey, and Gibbs must reflect that. Furthermore, I want the team to be supplemented by top-quality players," claimed the Frenchman.
A. Wenger, who did not hesitate to spend £42.5 million on acquiring "Real" midfielder Mesut Ozil on the last day of the summer transfer window, stated: "Spending such money is a big responsibility."
"However, I handle this responsibility well, as we have the money to buy such players. Previously, we couldn't do it because of financial constraints."
"When we built the stadium, I felt a great responsibility in managing this club. We had to go through this period without going bankrupt. The first years were tough. All of this explains why we lost important players," continued the experienced strategist.
"Now we are in a good enough financial situation, and I, more than anyone else, want high-class players to play at Arsenal. If we need to spend - I will spend," optimistically concluded A. Wenger.
The Frenchman took over at the helm of Arsenal in 1996 and has won 3 Premier League titles, 4 FA Cups, and raised the "Community Shield" trophy 4 times with the club since then.
