Before the last qualifying match of the 2014 FIFA World Cup in Group G, the coach of the Lithuanian national team Igoris Pankratjevas was calm. Even though Bosnia and Herzegovina are clear favorites for the match taking place on Tuesday in Kaunas, the Lithuanians can resist them with their teamwork.
The players of the Lithuanian national team are in a good mood. Confidence in their abilities was boosted by a great victory against the Latvian team in Vilnius, where the Lithuanians retaliated with a 2-0 win.
"After the last match, the mood is good, but I asked the guys to forget about them, because it's already history and we need to look ahead. Who is waiting for us tomorrow? I won't surprise anyone by saying that the Bosnians are clear favorites for tomorrow's match.
Their team is strong, I could even say that in our group they demonstrate the most beautiful, high-quality football. Just look at the surnames of the footballers, in which clubs they play, and everything becomes clear. Every one of their players is dangerous. We are strong only as a team," - said the interim coach of the Lithuanian national team I.Pankratjevas self-critically.
However, his team led by him is not planning to concede victory to the Bosnians in advance. The Lithuanians will take to the field thinking about victory.
Asked whether the Bosnians would feel at home in the match as many fans are coming to support them, the coach said: "I have already seen quite a few Bosnian fans in the city, but our fans will come to support us as well."
I.Panktratjevas said he still doesn't know if the Latvian hero Fedoras Černychas will appear in the match at the S.Darius and S.Girenas Stadium on Tuesday. The young player scored a goal and made an assist. "We haven't decided on the starting lineup yet, we are still putting everything together," - said the coach.
In the first match on October 18 last year, the Bosnia and Herzegovina team beat the Lithuanians 3-0.
