Today, ten matches of the qualifiers for the 2006 European Youth (up to 21 years) Championship were played. The biggest surprise came from the outsiders of the second group, Kazakh footballers, who defeated their peers from Turkey and scored the first three points on their account.
Favorites of the first group, Dutch and Czech footballers, managed to beat Finnish and Macedonian teams after tough matches and each collected the same number of points, but the Czechs have played fewer matches. The group leaders became Romanian footballers who defeated Armenians on Wednesday and collected 15 points. Kazakh footballers in the second group surprised everyone by beating the Turks 2-1. In the same group, the Ukrainian team narrowly defeated the Greeks, while the leaders, the Danes, crushed the Albanians 7-0.
Portugal continues unbeaten in the third group, this time defeating our neighbors from Estonia, while Slovak footballers defeated their peers from Luxembourg. In the only match of the fifth group, Belarusians defeated the Scots after a fierce battle and rose to third place.
In our seventh group, Spaniards defeated their peers from Bosnia and Herzegovina in a high-scoring match and rose to first place. The battle of the outsiders in the eighth group ended goalless. Matches did not take place in the fourth and sixth groups today.
