The new head coach of La Coruna club has been appointed Joaquin Caparros. The Spaniard will coach the team throughout the next season.
The search for the new coach at Deportivo began when Javier Irureta, who had coached the team for seven years, stepped down from his position. As previously announced, former strategist Vicente Del Bosque was considered the main candidate for the vacant position, but the team decided to choose J. Caparros.
J. Caparros, who had been successful, decided to leave the team a few days ago, with which he secured a high 6th place in the Spanish championship and earned the right to compete in the UEFA Cup next year. Before that, the Spaniard had been in charge of the club for some time.
This season in the La Liga championship, Deportivo only finished in 9th place and will have to settle for participation in the UEFA Intertoto Cup as the third most prestigious tournament next season. The opponent of the club, which will start in the tournament on July 2 or 3, will be the winner of the pair "La Valetta" (Malta) and "Buducnost" (Serbia and Montenegro).
