Today there were 13 matches in the 2006 World Cup European Qualifiers. In the seventh group, where Lithuania competes, the biggest surprise of this round was recorded - the Spanish national team managed to escape defeat against Bosnia and Herzegovina only in extra time.
In the first qualifying group, the Czech Republic achieved the most convincing victory, thanks to Jan Koller, who scored the most goals, crushing the Macedonian team. Romanians and Dutch did not spare their opponents and had no trouble against Armenia and Finland, respectively.
In the second group, the Turkish team had no trouble defeating the Kazakhstan national team. Danes forced Albania to surrender, while the European champions Greeks complicated their situation even more for qualifying to the World Cup by losing to Ukraine.
In the third qualifying group, our neighbors from Latvia narrowly defeated the Liechtenstein team, Portugal defeated Estonia, and Slovaks left no chance for Luxembourg winning with a score of 4-0.
In all other groups, there was only one game. In the fourth group, the Irish national team forced Faroe Islands to surrender in the second half. In the fifth group, the Belarusian team took away two points from the Scottish national team at home. In the eighth group, the Icelandic national team defeated Malta.
In the seventh group, a sensation was presented by the Bosnian players who managed to draw with the Spanish on equal terms. Bosnia was leading for a long time after Z. Misimovic's goal, but with three minutes left, N. Halilovic received a red card, soon followed by M. Beslija, and in the sixth added minute, the defender Carlos Marchena equalized the result.
