A.Wenger: team's self-confidence is gradually growing © EuroFootball.com

London "Arsenal" club strategist Arsene Wenger believes that the team's confidence in its own abilities is gradually growing.

In Saturday's "Premier League" match, the "Gunners" defeated the "Liverpool" team with a score of 2 - 0 and moved five points away from them in the tournament table.

Wenger believes that it is still too early to draw conclusions about the team's chances, but such victories provide a morale boost.

"It's nice to be in the lead by five points, but it is still very early in the season. However, it is beneficial for the team's ambitions and confidence in its own abilities," said the Frenchman.

The 64-year-old specialist also praised the team for bouncing back after a disappointing match against "Chelsea" in the English League Cup.

"We convincingly defeated a good team. We did what we wanted and bounced back after a loss in the middle of the week. We scored a goal and later had many opportunities. Aaron Ramsey's goal was incredible. I think we played well defensively because we shut down their top-class attackers. The defenders deserve praise for that," said Wenger after the match.

Next week, the league leaders will face another challenge - a trip to "Old Trafford", where they will face the defending champions, "Manchester United".
