The Roman club, participating in the Intertoto Cup next season, appointed former "Atalanta" strategist Delio Rossi as the new team coach on Friday, replacing Giuseppe Papadopulo, who did not agree to extend his contract.

The 45-year-old coach, who left the "Atalanta" team two weeks ago, signed a one-year contract with the possibility of extending it for another year with the club of the Italian capital. Delio Rossi, who previously coached "Salernitana" and "Lecce" teams in his career, became the coach of "Atalanta" in December of last year, but despite a successful second half of the season, he failed to save the team from relegation.

Soon after, Rossi resigned and expressed his desire to stay in the "Serie A" championship, quickly receiving the opportunity after G. Papadopulo stepped down. The latter worked with "Lazio" for half a year and helped the team avoid relegation and finish 13th in the championship. When the 56-year-old coach left his position, "Lazio" negotiated with P. Le Guen, but he rejected the offer and the Roman club then chose D. Rossi.
