2004/05 season Bundesliga vice-champion club officially confirmed on Monday the acquisition of German national team striker Kevin Kuranyi.
23-year-old Kuranyi signed a five-year contract with his new club - the player took advantage of a clause in his contract with Stuttgart, according to which another club could buy him for a certain amount. The amount of the fee is undisclosed, but it is believed that Schalke paid around 7 million euros for Kuranyi.
Having started his career at Stuttgart in 1997, Brazilian-born Kuranyi has already played 99 matches in the Bundesliga and scored 40 goals. During this time, the player has represented the German national team 24 times and scored a goal every other game.
