Defender Mindaugas Kalonas' comments: "I dedicate this goal to those people who believed in me, voted for me in the Best Player Awards. I hope I didn't disappoint. We ended the year with a decent result. I hope the next year will be even better.
The quality of the pitch didn't allow us to demonstrate high-quality football. However, I think the 1:1 result more or less reflects the game of today. The opponents tried to play in the 'first number', but we countered well, maybe they underestimated our capabilities. I would like to praise the Moldovan team, they have a bright future."
After the 1:1 draw in the friendly match against Moldova, the Lithuanian national team football players acknowledged that the result is fair and regretted only for the missed opportunities to score a second goal and take the victory.
Defender Mindaugas Panka: "I think these matches can be viewed positively. We played 1:1 away against the Moldovan team, which has recently shown good form. We tested some young players.
In friendly matches, you need to experiment, try something new. It's good that we managed to get involved. When we scored a goal, Mindaugas Kalonas made a good move, a decent attack. It's just a shame about the missed goal. It would have been nicer to end the season with a win. But realistically, a draw is a fair result."
Forward Evaldas Razulis: "The match was not easy, a tough pitch. Some players finished the season a week ago, didn't train anymore and arrived after the season's closings, celebrations. Therefore, it was not easy. However, 1:1 is not the worst scenario to end the year.
The national team always lacks playing together, this time we also had quite a few injured players. But we fought as best as we could. Today we gave away ball control ourselves, but the opponents didn't create many dangerous opportunities."
Defender Fedor Chernych: "It's a pity that we didn't take advantage of the opportunities in the first half. We would have achieved a victory. However, for the end of the year, the last match, a draw is a normal result. Everyone who played today really gave their best.
The debutants performed well, I wish them luck going forward. Last night I remembered my debut match. Now my youth is passing, I need to take more initiative myself. I hope it will only get better and better. There is always a lot of desire to play and help the team in the national team."
Defender Deimantas Petravicius: "I feel very good. It's nice just to be in the national team, and even more surprising that I will start in the lineup. Before that, I wasn't even sure if I would play at all. There was a bit of excitement, but everything went quite well. The match was good, just a pity that we missed a painful goal and didn't take advantage of the chance to score a second goal earlier."
Defender Vytautas Andriuskevicius: "Both teams had their chances to score. Moldova had more shots on goal, but didn't create many dangerous moments. We also had a few opportunities. I think the 1:1 result is deserved and positive. We played well in the second half, but that missed goal spoiled the result. We had chances to score a second goal, we needed to take advantage of those chances.
Football was quite open, there was no shortage of duels. However, the referee did a very good job and allowed the game to flow. There was a lot of fight, the match was not like a friendly one. I think the test was successful.
