Xabi Alonso will not leave the Madrid "Real" club after this season. As reported by "Marca", the Spanish national team member is expected to extend his contract in the near future.
The experienced 31-year-old footballer's contract with the Spanish vice champions is valid until the end of summer. There were rumors in the press that the midfielder would leave the Madrid team and most likely return to "Liverpool".
However, according to the influential Madrid newspaper, "Real" has found common ground and X. Alonso himself will agree to sign a new contract until approximately 2016-17.
Last summer, Florentino Perez managed to lure 23-year-old Asier Illarramendi, who plays in the same position, as an alternative to X. Alonso.
The Spaniard arrived in Madrid in 2009. In four seasons, he managed to play 192 matches and score six goals.
