Liverpool's Everton club has officially confirmed that defender Leighton Baines has broken his right toe.
In the city derby, which ended in a 3-3 draw, L. Baines had to leave the field after Liverpool's defender Jordan Henderson stepped on his foot.
The 28-year-old defender's foot was X-rayed and it was revealed that the footballer will not be able to play for up to 6 weeks.
"This injury may mean that the player will not play for 6 weeks, but it could be that he returns to the squad after just 10 days," said the "Toffees" manager Roberto Martinez.
The specialist also assures that there are options to replace the injured L. Baines: "We have players who can play in this position. Bryan Oviedo, Tony Hibbert, Sylvain Distin, and John Stones can all do the job."
This season in the Premier League, L. Baines has played 12 matches and scored 2 goals.
