Paris Saint-Germain's defender and Brazilian national team player Thiago Silva hinted at his future ambitions and claimed that triumph in next year's World Cup could possibly open the doors to the Ballon d'Or award.
The 29-year-old footballer would like to join another defender, Italy's Fabio Cannavaro, who became the winner of the Golden Ball award after Italy's triumph in the 2006 World Cup.
"If we manage to win the World Cup in first place, then there will be better chances for the Ballon d'Or award, but I know that it would be difficult to win it," stated T. Silva.
"This opportunity comes for defenders only once in 10 years. I don't dwell too much on this title, but if I play well for PSG and we win the World Cup, then I would be very happy to become the best player in the world," added the Brazilian.
Let us remind you that the upcoming 2014 World Cup tournament will take place in the summer, in the footballer's homeland, and today the draw for the group stage will be conducted.
