England's national team and Manchester United striker Wayne Rooney spoke optimistically after the FIFA draw ceremony and reassured that they can advance from the group stage.
The intense battle will take place in Group D at the 2014 World Cup. Already dubbed the "group of death," the English team will face Uruguay, Costa Rica, and Italy.
"If we want to be the best, we have to beat the best. We have a tough group ahead, but we are prepared and looking forward to the first match," said W. Rooney.
Meanwhile, England's national team coach Roy Hodgson also remained undaunted: "I am staying positive and you never know what awaits you."
In the first World Cup match, known as the birthplace of football, England will have to face Italy's resistance, with the game set to take place on June 15.
