The highest-earning player of the Lithuanian football A league vice-champions earns 8.5 thousand litas per month. This was revealed by Kostiantyn Sarsaniya, the head coach of Klaipėda's "Atlantas," to the Russian media. The Russian talked about his impressions after the first season in Lithuania, financial aspects, and foreign teams showing interest in A league players.
In an interview with the newspaper "Sport Express," K. Sarsaniya mentioned that the players of "Atlantas" can still receive bonuses, which amount to about a thousand litas. Additionally, the players receive meals, accommodation, and fuel expenses.
However, K. Sarsaniya noted that the other three A league giants - "Žalgiris," "Ekranas," "Sūduva" - are wealthier. According to the "Atlantas" coach, salaries in those clubs range from 17 to 20 thousand litas.
The coach pointed out that when the "FBK Kaunas" team was owned by Vladimir Romanov, the players were provided with excellent conditions.
"Of course, if you offer a Russian footballer to come to Lithuania for such a salary, he would laugh straight in your face," K. Sarsaniya told "Sport Express." "But a compromise can be found. In Lithuania, the rented player would get playing practice, and part of the salary could come from his club in Russia. We do not rule out the possibility of using this option in the next season."
K. Sarsaniya highlighted three players who left the biggest impression on him - Nerijus Valskis, who scored 27 goals in the A league, as well as his pupils Evaldas Razulis and the 19-year-old forward Donatas Kazlauskas.
According to the coach, a French club has shown interest in the past two players, while Norwegian and Turkish teams have shown interest in several other "Atlantas" players.
K. Sarsaniya also mentioned that he met with LFF President Julius Kvedaras, but he was not offered the position of head coach of the Lithuanian national team.
