On Tuesday evening, the last matches of the A-D groups stage were played in the UEFA Champions League, in which seven teams secured their ticket to the round of 16.
Arguably the most interesting match took place in Munich, where the local team "Bayern" faced off against the players from "Manchester City". The "Citizens" surprisingly celebrated a narrow victory with a score of 2-3.
The Bavarians gained a two-goal advantage at the start of the match, with goals from Thomas Muller and Mario Gotze, but David Silva managed to reduce the score for the visitors in the first half.
The next 45 minutes went well for Manuel Pellegrini's team, who scored two more goals to secure the victory. "Man City" earned three points and leveled with "Bayern", but due to their previous head-to-head result of 1-3, the first place went to the German champions.
Meanwhile, in Group B, Madrid's "Real" team secured another victory which didn't change the standings much. "Kobenhavn" couldn't resist the visitors and lost with a score of 0-2.
Goals for the winners were scored by Luka Modric and Cristiano Ronaldo, with Ronaldo now having scored nine goals in the group stage, setting a new record. He is the player with the most goals in the group stage.
Another match in this group was interrupted due to poor weather conditions. In Istanbul, "Galatasaray" faced Turin's "Juventus", but due to fog, the match was stopped in the first half and will likely be played tomorrow.
In Group A, "Manchester United" ultimately secured a victory. At "Old Trafford", the "Red Devils" celebrated a win with a minimal difference, thanks to Phil Jones' goal against Donetsk's "Shakhtar".
"Man Utd" (14 points) and Leverkusen's "Bayer" (10 points) secured their spots in the round of 16, while the Ukrainians with 8 points will have to settle for the Europa League.
Two teams from Group C also advanced to the round of 16. These are Paris Saint-Germain, who lost away to Lisbon's Benfica, and Piraeus' Olympiakos, who defeated Brussels' Anderlecht at home.
