Two teams from each of the twelve groups advanced to the next stage, joined by eight teams that finished third in the UEFA Champions League group stage.

In Group B, Ludogorets and PSV were the teams to progress, with Ludogorets securing top spot in the group.
Zalzburg from Group C and Esbjerg from Group D advanced to the round of 16.
The fate of Group D hinged on Rubin Kazan's victory over Zulte-Waregem, ensuring Maribor progressed to the next stage.
Group E saw Fiorentina dominate with a win over Dnipro, who also advanced, while Frankfurt and Tel Aviv secured their places from Group F.
Kiev's victory over Rapid Vienna in Group G ensured their progression alongside Genk. Group H saw Slovan Liberec progress alongside Sevilla.
Lyon and Real Betis advanced from Group I, while Trabzonspor and Tottenham secured their spots from Group J.
In Group L, AZ and PAOK advanced to the next stage.
