Former Tottenham coach Andre Villas-Boas claims that Gareth Bale plays better in Real Madrid when Cristiano Ronaldo is not on the field.
According to the Portuguese, the star of the Wales national team is the player who should be the leader of the team, so when Ronaldo is not on the field, Bale's influence is more noticeable and better.
"Bale plays better without Ronaldo," said A. Villas-Boas. "When Cristiano is not playing, Bale has a greater role and shows his full potential."
"He was used to playing a style of football at Tottenham where he was the team leader. In London, Gareth occupied the role that Ronaldo now holds in Madrid," the strategist said.
Former Chelsea coach also added: "Bale is one of the best footballers in the world in 2013."
This season, C. Ronaldo has scored 27 goals in all competitions, while the 24-year-old Welsh winger has found the net nine times.
