Spanish sports media, which previously reported on successful negotiations between "Barcelona" and defender Marc Bartra, now reports that signing new contracts should soon help two players from the Catalan club.
According to the newspaper "El Mundo Deportivo," talks with M. Bartra about a new contract were considered a priority, as the current 22-year-old Catalan's contract with "Barcelona" expires after this season.
However, according to the mentioned publication, defender Gerard Pique will soon receive a new offer as well.
His contract with the Catalan club is valid until June 30, 2015, but the team's leaders are not willing to wait and, unofficially, intend to offer him a new contract valid until the summer of 2019.
G. Pique, who started playing football in Barcelona's youth academy, belonged to the "Manchester United" team from 2004 to 2008, and in the 2006-2007 season he was loaned to the "Zaragoza" team. He returned to his homeland of Catalonia in the summer of 2008 and quickly established himself in the main lineup of the Catalan club.
