The General Secretary of FIFA officially announced that the 2022 World Cup in Qatar will not take place in the summer as usual, but in winter.

The main reason for choosing this date was the extremely hot temperatures in the summer. It took a long time to make this decision.

"The 2022 World Cup will not take place in the summer," confirmed Jerome Valcke. "We do not know for sure yet, but it is believed that it could take place from November 15 to January 15.

"The World Cup in Qatar will be played in winter because the weather conditions are ideal at that time. The temperature should be around 25 degrees Celsius, which will be similar to spring in Europe," added the FIFA representative.

Qatar competed with the United States, South Korea, Japan, and Australia for the opportunity to host the most prestigious tournament in the world in their country.
