London's "Tottenham" club officially announced that experienced striker Jermain Defoe will leave the team.

As reported, the Englishman will leave for Canada at the end of February, where he will defend the honor of the "Toronto" team and sign a four-year contract with them.

The 31-year-old footballer is expected to earn up to 90,000 pounds sterling per week in the Toronto team. This amount would be one of the highest in the MLS league.

"I want to thank the 'Tottenham' club for all the wonderful years. I still have some time before I leave, so I want to give my all to this team," said J. Defoe.

The striker has been defending the "Spurs" colors since 2004, but also spent two seasons at "Portsmouth" club. In the 361 matches played for the London team, the striker scored 142 goals.
