On Sunday, during the Confederations Cup tournament in Germany, the national teams of Group B played the second round of matches. After the games, another team secured a place in the semi-finals - Mexico. Meanwhile, the European champions Greece no longer have hope of advancing to the next stage.

In the first match, Japan faced Greece. The Japanese team had the initiative, but did not capitalize on good opportunities. However, after a substitution, Masashi Oguroilga managed to break through the Greek defense and scored the winning goal in the 76th minute. At the end of the match, Greece launched a dangerous attack, but the Japanese goalkeeper played confidently. After the victory, the Asian champions maintained hopes of reaching the semi-finals, while Greece, defending the honor of the strongest European teams, will have to settle for the last place in Group B.

In the other match, Mexico defeated the World Champions Brazil with a score of 1-0. From the beginning of the match, Brazil dominated, but the Mexicans defended successfully and in the 30th minute had a great opportunity to take the lead - a penalty kick was awarded against the Brazilian goal. J. Borgetti took the shot accurately, but the referee ordered a retake as the Mexican player F. Fonseca entered the penalty area too early. Borgetti's second attempt was off target, but the linesman noted that Dida, the Brazilian goalkeeper, was not on the goal line during the shot. Dida saved Borgetti's third attempt, and after the penalty drama, the score remained 0-0. In the second half, Brazil had the initiative, but Mexico scored the first and only goal of the match. In the 58th minute, after a corner kick, Jared Borgetti headed the ball into the net. Brazil failed to equalize the score in the remaining time, and Mexico secured the victory and a place in the semi-finals. The fate of the second ticket to the next stage will be decided in the third round, in the match between the national teams of Japan and Brazil.
