The International Federation of Football History & Statistics (IFFHS) has compiled the ranking of the best world football clubs in 2013.

In it, the Lithuanian champions Vilnius City Football Club "Žalgiris", gathering 116.5 points, achieved a high position of 121st.

VMFD "Žalgiris" surpassed famous clubs such as "Udinese", Vienna's "Austria", VFB "Stuttgart", FC "Liverpool", and Liverpool's "Everton". The low position of English clubs belonging to football elite was due to their failure to qualify for international European tournaments.

The strongest club in the world was Munich's "Bayern", collecting 370 points. In second place remained Madrid's "Real" (290 points), and in third place was London's "Chelsea" team (273 points).

The ranking of the best world football clubs has been calculated annually since 1991. It is determined by the achievements of football clubs in national championships, national cup competitions, continental tournaments, and international competitions over the last twelve months.

According to IFFHS rules, national championships are divided into four levels by strength. The most powerful clubs in the fourth level of world leagues receive four points for a win, 2 points for a draw, and no points for a loss. A victory for Lithuanian clubs in the second level is worth 2 points in the national championship, while a draw is worth 1 point. In the UEFA Champions League, clubs receive 14 points for a win, and 7 points for a draw. In the UEFA Europa League, clubs earn 12 points for a win, and 6 points for a draw.
