The painful loss in the 15th round of the "A Lyga" championship over the weekend struck the league leader FC Panevėžys "Ekranas" - during the match against FC Klaipėda "Atlantas" one of the team's leaders, a defender, suffered an injury.
The 24-year-old national team player stumbled in the 63rd minute in his penalty area, and although Panevėžys managed to avoid conceding a goal in this episode, Kučys could no longer continue the match and was substituted. It later turned out that the footballer had strained the ligament of his left knee, and due to this injury he will be unable to play for about a month.
It is a big loss for the young "Ekranas" team, whose coach V. Liubšys usually fields the same lineup on the field and often has less experienced players on the bench.
Meanwhile, in the "A Lyga" today there will be one round brought forward from the 20th round due to FC Kaunas' participation in the Champions League qualifiers - Kaunas will play against FC Vilnius at Vilnius "Žalgiris" stadium from 18:30. It is still unclear whether the leader of the capital's team, M. Panka, will be able to help his team in this match.
