On Sunday, four matches of the 21st round of the "Primera" championship were played in Spain.
In Madrid, two capital teams met - "Rayo Vallecano" against "Atletico". In a six-goal feast, the Copa del Rey winners triumphed.
The first goal for "Atletico" was scored by David Villa, and around 20 minutes later Arda Turan doubled the score. In the 40th minute, the hosts reduced the deficit after a goal by Jonathan Viera, but at the end of the first half, A.Turan punished the opponents' goalkeeper once again.
In the second half, Diego Simeone's players played more calmly and tried to maintain their lead. However, in the 75th minute, Diego Costa scored the fourth goal for the team, and just a minute later, a goal by "Rayo" forward Joaquin Larrivey sealed the end of the game.
Meanwhile, the other "Primera" leader, the team of "Barcelona", easily defeated "Malaga" in front of their own fans.
The scorers for the winners were Gerard Pique, Pedro, and Alexis Sanchez. It is worth mentioning that at the end of the match, after 624 days, Ibrahim Afellay returned to the field wearing "Barca" jersey.
Both "Atletico" and "Barcelona" added three points to their tally and continue to lead in the Spanish championship. Real Madrid, in third place, is lagging behind by just one point.
In other matches, Bilbao's "Athletic" had no mercy on Pamplona's "Osasuna" eleven, while "Almeria" celebrated a narrow victory against Madrid's "Getafe".
