After a lengthy period of rumors, Chelsea finally officially confirmed that they acquired Spanish national football team defender Asier Del Horno from a Spanish club for 12 million euros.
"Asier is an impressive player who will definitely provide options and strengthen the left-back position," said Chelsea coach Jose Mourinho in an official statement.
"I believe he will be a key player on our road to success," added Mourinho.
The 24-year-old left-back, a product of the Athletic football school, known for his excellent skills, will compete with Wayne Bridge for a spot in the starting lineup at Chelsea.
Having signed a three-year contract, A.Del Horno will join Chelsea in their pre-season camp on July 6th.
