One of the leaders of London's Chelsea club, Eden Hazard, has set a goal - the Belgian hopes to reach the level of the world's best footballers.
The midfielder, who scored 11 times in 34 matches this season, says he wants to compete with Lionel Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo for the title of the world's best footballer.
"I know that I can compete with Messi and Ronaldo in the near future, if I put in more effort," - said the 23-year-old Belgian.
"I don't know if I will reach their level, their statistics are incredible, but it will be a great challenge for me. Of course, I want to become the best in the world."
"Before, I only cared about football itself. For me, it was just a game that I enjoyed playing, but when I arrived at Chelsea, I started paying more attention to my abilities," said E. Hazard.
"Earlier, I knew I was a good player, but not one of the best. I have matured. I behave the same on the field, but now I understand that in order to be among the best, I must consistently show high-level football."
"I am important for the team: I make good passes, score many goals, and Chelsea wins games. People expect a lot from me. I hear it every day. Probably, I need to hear such things," - concluded the midfielder.
E. Hazard, who moved to Chelsea from Lille in 2012, cost the "aristocrats" 40 million euros.
