The president of Paris Saint-Germain, Nasser Al-Khelaifi, denied reports that the club is preparing to buy Barcelona star Lionel Messi for a record sum.
There were rumors in the press that PSG is willing to spend up to 250 million euros for the Argentine forward, and will make an offer after this season.
However, N. Al-Khelaifi dismissed this possibility, claiming that while Messi is a great player, PSG already has excellent players in its ranks.
"Messi is a fantastic player," said the PSG president to the newspaper "L'Equipe". "But to expect him to come to Paris is naive."
"We will not try to acquire Lionel, because we also have limits. I am happy with the current players in the team," concluded N. Al-Khelaifi.
The 26-year-old Argentine's contract with Barcelona expires in 2018.
