For eight years spent in the Lion "Olympique" team, the famous Brazilian Juninho Pernambucano is ending his professional football career in Europe at the age of 39. The goalkeeper played his last match for his native country's team "Vasco da Gama".

Juninho began his professional career at the Brazilian "Sport Recife" club back in 1993. He played for "Vasco da Gama" until 2001 and then moved to "Lyon".

During his eight years in France, Juninho became a true favorite of the fans, was appointed team captain, and "Lyon" won seven consecutive "Ligue 1" titles.

In total, Juninho played 248 matches and scored 75 goals for the French team. In Europe, the Brazilian did not play for any other club, and in 2009 he moved to "Al-Gharafa". He later briefly played for "Vasco da Gama" and New York "Red Bulls", and at the beginning of this season he returned to "Vasco da Gama".

For the latter Brazilian club, the goalkeeper represented him in a total of 177 matches and scored 39 goals. Juninho played 40 times for the Brazilian national team, where he scored six goals.
