Lithuanian national football team striker Darvydas Šernas simply fantastically debuted in the ranks of Perth "Glory" team in the Australian championship. After appearing on the field after the break, the Lithuanian almost scored a stunning goal with his first touch of the ball, helping the team to earn a point against Melbourne "Victoria".
In the 17th match of the Australian championship round, Perth "Glory" club, in front of more than ten thousand passionate fans at home, hosted Melbourne "Victoria" higher in the tournament table. The first half went poorly for the hosts. In the 37th minute, the match referee awarded a controversial penalty, converted into a goal by Guilherme (0:1). The first half ended like that.
After the break, the "Glory" coaching staff decided to activate the game up front and introduced the team's newcomer from Lithuania, D.Šernas, onto the field. However, overall, it should be acknowledged that "Victoria" had more wonderful opportunities to score in the second half, but the chances were not utilized. The attack dominated over defense in the match, and at the end of the game, the "Glory" star William Gallas suffered an injury and could not finish the match.
The match ended in a 1:1 draw, which should be more pleasing to the new team of D.Šernas. After the match, commentators marveled at the Lithuanian's game and stated that Darvydas has already become a favorite of the fans.
