Legendary German footballer Franz Beckenbauer was outraged by Bayern Munich coach Pep Guardiola's decision to try and change midfielder Mario Gotze's position.
The 21-year-old footballer is being tested in the attacking midfielder position.
"Bayern is wasting Gotze's potential. Of course, he is capable of playing there, but we won't achieve the best results this way," Beckenbauer said.
"A small guy (Mario's height is 176 cm - ed. note) doesn't have many opportunities when he has to fight with several giant defenders. I think it's best to let him play as a 'false nine' - that way, the most threat will be created for the opponent's goal," the German insisted.
This season in the Bundesliga championship, M.Gotze has scored 6 goals in 14 matches.
