The team of Vilnius city football league "Žalgiris" has regained the services of the Romanian full-back Jakub Wilk, who played in Romania.

The 28-year-old Pole arrived at the capital's team at the beginning of 2013 and played half a season there.

The 177 cm tall football player played 20 matches for the residents of Vilnius, scored 7 goals, and made 13 assists.

J.Wilk helped "Žalgiris" win the Lithuanian Football Cup and Super Cup.

"We are extremely happy that Kuba is returning to Vilnius.

Such cases, when a player who has played half a year with us, and then was later sold due to certain circumstances, returns to the team, are rare.

It's great that it happened this way. J.Wilk had many good and profitable offers to continue his career elsewhere, but the six months spent in Vilnius helped him decide to return to us," said "Žalgiris" sports director Mindaugas Nikoličius.

He hopes that the Pole will easily integrate into the team and perform even better in the upcoming season than in the previous one.

"I think J.Wilk won't need an adaptation period because he knows very well where he is coming, what Vilnius streets are, LFF Stadium, Marekas Zubas, and other teammates.

He is a very important figure, and he proved it playing with us for six months.

We expect more goals and assists from him.

J.Wilk is another important detail in our mosaic, building a strong team for UEFA Champions League," said M. Nikoličius.

In the middle of the last season, the Pole from "Žalgiris" moved to Romania. Playing for "Vaslui," which held the 6th place in the national championship, the player participated in 15 matches, scoring 1 goal and making 3 assists.

J.Wilk had to defend the honor of the Polish national team three times. For the first time, he represented his homeland in the matches against Lithuania in 2009.

The player who returned to "Žalgiris" spent almost his entire career at Poznan's "Lech" team. He debuted in one of the strongest "Ekstraklasa" teams in 2005 and played until 2013.

In 2012, J.Wilk was loaned to Gdansk's "Lechia" for half a year.

In the "Ekstraklasa" championship, the "Žalgiris" defender played 160 matches, scored 18 goals, and made 16 assists.

In 2009, he helped the "Lech" club win the Polish Cup and Super Cup, and in 2010 – the country's champions title.

In European tournaments, J.Wilk represented Poznan's team in 28 matches and scored 1 goal.
