Two Mexican national team defenders - Aaron Galindo and Salvador Carmona - were removed from the team for using banned substances in the Confederations Cup tournament, announced a FIFA representative.

The FIFA employee did not disclose which specific substances were used by both players from the "Cruz Azul" club. He also confirmed that the Mexican national team will not face sanctions for the players' behavior.

Earlier, "Cruz Azul" club coach Ruben Ramon told a Mexican newspaper that the players were removed from the team due to disagreements with other players. Meanwhile, FIFA claims to have received positive test results from a laboratory located in Los Angeles, United States.

Both defenders helped their national team defeat Japan and Brazil in the group stage and secure a spot in the semifinals. There, the Mexicans will face Argentina on Sunday.
